microSD, NVR or hub?
A microSD card in the camera is the simplest local storage: cheap, silent, and enough for weeks of motion clips. Its weakness is that it leaves with the camera if someone takes it. An NVR (the Reolink route) is a box inside your house with a hard drive that records every camera 24/7 for months and keeps the footage even if a camera is stolen; it needs cable and a little setup. A hub (SOLIOM, and eufy’s HomeBase on other models) sits between the two: wire-free cameras, storage safely indoors, but usually motion clips rather than continuous video. Buy cards labeled High Endurance; a camera rewrites the same card daily and ordinary cards wear out in a year or two.
What you give up without cloud
Off-site backup. If the house burns or the burglar takes the recorder, local footage goes with it, which is why some people keep a cheap cloud tier on the one camera facing the door. You also lose some conveniences: longer clip history on the go, and on some brands, richer AI. What you do not lose is remote viewing. Can I still watch from work or on vacation?

Do they work with Alexa or Google?

Reolink works through its own app and client, and also with Google Home on newer firmware; check the listing if that matters to you.
What about returns and warranty?
