The knives are dollar store quality and the cutting board arrived cracked. The knives arrived sharp but I don't expect that they will stay that way under even moderate use. The honing steel is adequate but should not be called a sharpening steel. The cutting board is glued together strips of soft wood and arrived with a crack in it. It is too small for a useful cutting board anyway. I would look for a 10 inch by 14 inch cutting board to make it useful for cutting and chopping ingredients.

You get what you pay for and these set of knives are just that. They look good, but their quality is lacking. The knives are not very sharp at all out of the packaging, but now I know why it comes with a knife sharpener. The sharpener did a good job with sharpening the knives, but I expect them to be ready to use right away, not have to spend time sharpening and testing them to make sure they are good enough.Next, the handles on a few of the knives have a small amount of give to them. You can feel the slight jiggle of the blade inside the handle, so I'm not sure if the triple rivet constructio

Was so looking forward to receiving this Alpine Cuisine Stainless Steel cutlery set with wooden cutting board. Apprehensive about it's quality upon opening main box. Immediately noticed the 2 cracks in the wood andv then multiple splinters in packaging. The board is cheaply made and unfinished so rough edges and splinter are hazard. Will have to treat the wood and sand if I'm to be able to actually cut on it safely. Bummer. Quite pleased though with the actual knives and sharpener! My nephew is just setting out on his own, and both fancies himself a beginning chef and mixologist.I got this knife set for him. They're sharp, (I don't know how long they will hold an edge, but they'll do fine with a good sharpener.)They feel good in the hand, and come in a nice gift box.Great value for all that you get.

This set comes with 6 knifes and a cutting board.For the cutting board: This board is more rectangular than square and made of wood. The board feels light, is very thin, and feels extremely fragile. I liked that this was a 2 in 1 set (knives and cutting board) but the cutting board is not quite usable.Knives: The knives are nice and firm and have a good grip, but a couple of them were blunt. I sharpened and they worked but I shouldn’t have needed to sharpen brand new knives.
