APC BR1500MS2 Pure Sine Wave UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector

My 3rd purchase of this. I use 2 at once but one of them just saved my $6000 PC.Lightning struck right next to my house, so close that it shook the house. I was on my PC when it happened and the current actually came through my mouse and shocked me. I thought I lost my PC for sure. When the power came back on, the APC was fried... but my PC and everything else connected to it still worked.We lost a couple of other electronics in the house due to the strike, but everything connected to both of my APC's were protected.Paid for itself

I have used APC UPS of various models for many, many years. They have always performed as expected. I currently have the Back-UPS Pro BR1500MS2 and it works perfectly. I'm writing this review not so much so about the UPS, but more for information on what to expect if using this UPS with a portable generator. I am an IT Senior Systems Engineer working from home for the last year or so due to Covid. I have a very highend computer system thus the reason I am using the BR1500MS2. I love this product. I had the same original model without the ‘2’ at the end of the model number and it lasted so many years past the expected life of the product.It keeps my Internet modem, router, network printer, and bridges running for hours after a power failure. Great display.

Update: 08/24/2025One year in, and things are still fantastic. The UPS went through a couple of real power flickers, some power fluctuations usually undetectable before storms arrived, and a real power outage that lasted me about five and a half hours recently. Unfortunately, I was not home to switch the UPS to an alternate power source, but was able to begin charging it once I did arrive home during the power outage. No battery replacement alerts have sounded yet, and the UPS has been testing its own battery, something I was awake for one morning to hear relays clicking.Everything is still wo

Purchased this unit to provide UPS power to the network and video side of my AV system which had outgrown a 600 watt unit that was not sine wave output. This is still not true UPS power. There is switching time involved to go from utility to battery power, in the 10millisecond range. A true UPS that APC also sells is 4 to 5 times the price of this one and thats just entry level. Bought this after buying a smaller 600VA unit to power just my router and home connected devices. This backup will power/protect my desktop PC and workstation at home. During gameplay my desktop runs up to 250W, and this unit will provide me 20ish minutes of continued gameplay during a power outage.
