I bought this computer solely to write with it for work: and for that it's been excellent. I had no problem getting it out of S mode so that I could install apps such as Chrome. It's a little annoying that there is that step you have to take but it wasn't hard to do it. I got this for $179 last week, so as for paying for this laptop it was a deal! I gave this laptop 4 stars out of 5 because, my complaint with this laptop is the memory, after it formats it has about 70GBs left so if you're a gamer like me, take off your 4TB WD Passport from your ps4 and use it for this. I'm real happy with my Vivobook; my needs are simple (Internet / office software) and the VIvobook handles everything I need it to like a champ. My only point of frustration, such as it is, is that I've got only 35 GB left after installation, updates, and installing software. That's not a lot of space for media such as music or movies, but that is easily rectified with an external drive.One of the things the MyASUS software offers is "Battery Care mode", where the battery charges only to 80% in order to protect your battery life. No complaints here... built pretty well, does what I need it to do (primarily Internet and streaming).This is NOT a high end laptop, but compares well them and it accomplishes what I need well.The GPU seems good enough to let me watch what I want to - again this in NOT a high end gaming laptop so don't expect that performance. BUT Its inexpensive enough that if something happens to it I'm not going to cry (too much) and again its pretty solidly put together... especially when compared to other brands laptops at this price point (Lenovo I'm looking at you).So all-in-all for the price I'm happy

Worst laptop ever. Randomly doesn’t turn on. Randomly disengages the touchpad. This isn’t even my primary work computer and it’s less than a year old. Absolute garbage. I have no confidence in this laptop that whenever I lift the screen it’s going to turn on. Should have listened to everyone else who said that ASUS was garbage.

I wanted to like this laptop but I'm having so much backlight bleed. The whole screen is a hazy glow and the TN panel amplifies it. With a TN panel, you have to look at it from the best angle to really see the best of the screen, unlike IPS and other options. I have other TN panels and this one seems like the worst of them and the backlight bleed issue amplifies the issue even more when you're not viewing it perfectly on, and even if you are, it's still not crisp or clear, like people are saying.
