This router is easy to setup and use. But it has several issues.Pros:Device is compact and power is very simple to provide to it making it work in many environments.The antennas fold and allow different angles for better coverage.Cons:Settings can be limited, making more complex setups more difficult.The max throughput is 100mbps total. Meaning every device connected shares the 100mbps bandwidth. This is exactly what I needed. I don’t have home internet. Instead I just purchase an Xfinity Now pass for $10 a month, and get WiFi on a hotspot. Normally, you can only connect 2 devices. However, with this travel router, we can connect unlimited devices. Set up was fairly easy as it has good documentation. The built in VPN is awesome. Haven’t had any issues with it.

This is a really nice, compact router that's perfect for running openwrt. The USB power is particularly nice because you might not need to find an extra wall plug to power the router, as it can be run off of a port on a multi port USB power supply, fed directly from a computer, or even powered via a battery pack.

I would have given this 5 stars if I didn't have to install an intermediate firmware to unlock the bootloader, or if the factory firmware that had ad-blocking built in. But at least there is a bootloader unlock which can be used to upgrade to vanilla OpenWRT - search the Cudy tech support page for OpenWRT for the instructions.OpenWRT 24.10.0 works using the ramips/mt76x8 target, allowing the use of a much less janky firmware.
