This is a great knife set, and a good value for the price. To be clear, there are 6 knives in this 12 piece set.I appreciate the color coded handles so it's easy to differentiate between the knives when they're on my magnetic block; they're mildly colorful so they aren't a saturated eyesore in the kitchen. I personally don't use the sheaths but those seem to be decently made as well.Not sure what type of steel these are, but I'm not really expecting any high grade stuff at this price point. I've had my old knife set for about 7 years. It wasn't anything special, but has worked fine. I decided to upgrade to these. These are a great value. Oster is a quality brand. I love the rubberized handles, very easy to grip. My old knives just had hard plastic. This comes with 6 knives, and 6 sheaths. The sheaths are great if you store in a drawer. I hang my knives from a magnetic wall mount, so I don't need them at home. But sometimes I like to grill at the park, so having the sheaths is great, I can take a knife or two along safely. Overall, a very great value set of knives!

For the current $40 price point I am impressed with this knife set. There are six knives, each with their own sheath. Each handle is a different color, but they all coordinate with one another. I keep my knives in a drawer and up until now, some had sheaths, and some did not which made it so we couldn't rifle through.The sheaths are very snug and narrow so you definitely want to pay attention when placing the knife back in as it would be easy to slide it the wrong way.The grip on the knife feels very natural. These knives are truly remarkable. They are packaged exceptionally well and are of a reputable brand. The price is quite reasonable, making them a great bargain. Although I am not a culinary expert or even a culinary student, I can confidently say that this set of six knives is perfect for my household. These Oster “Ronnan 12 piece knife set” has a misleading title as it’s SIX knives plus a plastic sheath for each. Blades are stamped “Stainless Steel” and “Made in China”. They are very sharp out of the box and the sheaths fit snugly providing excellent protection for the blade (and your hand!). Because of the sheaths, these can be confidently stored in a drawer making a knife block unnecessary.It seems the “nonstick coating” is kind of like an anodized coating. Note that this "12 piece set" is only 6 knives with 6 sheaths. The sheaths are very snug, and they do not offer total coverage, so caution when sheathing them and storing them is still needed.I am not a fan of a pointed bread knife, and the balance on the paring knife feels off to me.Otherwise, I do like this set. The are fairly non-stick, and they clean-up well. In addition, they hold an edge well, and the handles are comfortable even for long periods of use.
