The quality and functionality of this Singer machine provide a great value! I really love the big touch screen! It's easy to read and use. There are so many sewing and embroidery options available, too. I have used the trial version of the mySewnet library, and I've found tons of designs and it has given me a bunch of new ideas. I'm enjoying it and will subscribe to it. I've been sewing a long time and have almost always purchased Singer machines. This 9180 has been great, and I've done so many embroidery projects since I got it!

I was in the market for a sewing machine. Being I grew up with Singer I figured I'd try this touch screen one considering the competition prices. First off, finding reviews and forums and just general things about this specific model is hard to do. Even trying to find this on the singer website was hard to find. When I got the unit sadly it was dead on arrival. Turned on but that was it. I've been hearing the days of Singer being a good brand are gone. So far, I have enjoyed the SE9180. It easily converts from sewing to embroidery function. It’s been a learning curve for me because my 30 year old Singer was quite a bit different. But I know I’ll grow to love this one just as much. I am impressed with the quality of the machine and the software.

LOTS of problems with this machine!
Singer... supposed to be a good name. This machine has many problems. It doesn't feed material properly when sewing, it balls and knots the fabric at the beginning and ending of a seam. Skip stitches and doesn't sew more than a straight line correctly. During sewing it will take off sewing and nothing you do will stop it until you turn it off. Hard to use the threader. I had an older Singer that was fantastic but it quit working so this machine was a replacement. I now need a good reliable sewing/embroidery machine and I will NOT be getting a Singer. I purchased this machine looking to get into embroidery as a fun craft. This machine I thought would be a good place to start because it's a Singer and it had some pretty interesting features with it. I couldn't have been more wrong this machine was an absolute nightmare. I worked with it for weeks trying to figure out how to make it work reliably to no avail. Now I have it a fair chance I was using embroidery thread, needles and proper weight Bobin thread. I also experimented with several different types of stabilizers.
