I did a ton of research on all rice cookers out there, on/off and fuzzy logic, and then every brand and type within that category. This is why I settled on the Cuisinart after all the research, and despite the so-so reviews:-- I wanted something with a small footprint. I live in a NYC apt and cook only for myself, my baby, and sometimes a meal for 2 w my boyfriend. I wanted a 3 or 4 cup cooker.-- I wanted a steamer. this is such a poorly designed rice cooker for a lot of little reasons and a few big.1: the rim where the lid rests has divots/dimples that do not allow the lid to nest flushly. inexplicably there are three evenly spaced along the edge of the inner rim. aligned and flush on one side, there's a huge gap on the other and vice versa. there's just no way for it to sit flush and neat with a seal of any kind. such a major fail that it presents several issues.-the first of which is a huge mess, even when cooking small amounts the water bubbles up and out and over the edge. I almost didn’t buy the cooker because of the bad reviews, but I liked the design so decided to buy it anyway and I’m glad I did. It makes perfect rice every time! In fact, I cannot get it to make mushy rice I sometimes like to have. I always get perfectly cooked rice. Here’s how I do it. First of all, you have to make a minimum of 2 cups of rice (4 cups max) per the instructions. Every time I made one cup, it would boil over and burn the rice.
