I’m about a week in and everything is working great! The day I was setting everything up I had a technical question, so I emailed their customer service expecting an answer within a couple of days, and they had answered in less than 2 hours with a solution for exactly what I needed. They even followed up a couple of days later to make sure I didn’t need anything else.The install was easy, I was able to connect my VPN, I changed my WAN port to a LAN port in about 30 seconds. Used the Beryl 7 in three different hotels this weekend and it worked great every time.What I really like is that I was able to use the same Wi-Fi SSID as I have at home, so my devices connected automatically without me having to set everything up again at each hotel.I also have Private Internet Access (PIA), and using it through the router makes things a lot easier since I can have my devices protected without running the VPN separately on each one.Hotel Wi-Fi can be hit or miss, but I had no connection issues, and the router handled everything without a problem. I had the same bad experiences as other users complaining about on the GL.iNet forums and here on Amazon. I heard the unit can get hot, and it does. Hotter than I think would be healthy for the electronics. The unit was software-updated and could not be kept connected in repeater mode. Either wired or wireless, the unit would keep disconnecting and not want to reconnect. On paper, this is a feature-packed, powerful, compact unit, but it just is not reliable. I am going to give the GL.iNet GL-AXT1800 Slate AX a shot and go with a more tried unit.

The Beryl 7 works great for me, received on three days ago and was able to get it connected via wifi with a litlle guidance from AI while on a trip to a leadership conference at the hotel I was staying. Once connected I was able to use all of my devices and great ISP speeds. I would recommend this little guy, but do be ready for some time in learning or knowing how to cconfigure a router.

Work as intended. I am using it as my private wifi out of public apartment wifi and was able to connect all my devices in the same speed.It was also relatively easy to set up and the controls are just how it was described. I like using the app since it was easier to use. Definitely would recommend someone who always have to use public wifi.The ad blocker was definitely a plus.

Good overall but didn’t work for my situation. This router uses DD-WRT opensource firmware which has a bug that’ll bite you in some situations. If it loses the upstream internet, the router initiates a panic which resets all connections. Occasionally I need to use this router in the middle of nowhere without an internet connection. This caused all my connected devices to disconnect every 30 seconds. Tried everything they suggested to fix the problem but no joy. Thankfully Amazon allowed to exchange it for an Asus router with WISP running OpenWRT firmware which doesn’t have that problem.That be
