I really like the way this book approaches back and spine rehabilitation. The information is presented in a practical, approachable way rather than burying everything under medical terminology, so it's easy to understand what the exercises are intended to accomplish. There's a good range of material covering mobility, stretching, strengthening and self-massage techniques. I especially appreciate that the book doesn't treat every type of back pain as though it were the same problem. The different sections and protocols make it much easier to focus on the information that's actually relevant to y

I am very impressed with this book. It is quite detailed. I absolutely love that it has pictures showing what the exercises look like. That is so important and helps. I've suffered with back and neck pain for years. I was a little disappointed there is nothing for the neck, but what's available for the back is quite good. I will say, if you are having a lot of pain and don't know what is wrong, get a diagnoses before you jump in, because you can make things worse. I've done that myself.I have complicated issues, so I'm having issues with what I can do. What's recommended for disc herniation (L
As someone who has lived with chronic back pain since she was a teenager, I am used to being ignored with my pain. Most of what I have done to improve myself has been through self-help and YouTube channels from physical therapists and nurses. While I have gotten some of my mobility back, the pain is still there, and I am constantly looking for new exercises to add to my routine, hoping it will help. This is part of the reason I was excited to read a new book that seemed perfect for someone like me - Rehab Science: Back and Spine: Protocols and Exercise Programs for Overcoming Pain and Healing
I was a little reluctant to grab this and be obliged to write a review on it without too much faith, but I'm really glad I did. It's a really nicely designed and comprehensive guide to self-guided physical therapy for all kinds of back and spine related injuries, both chronic and acute. As an aging runner and also as someone who had a pretty serious back injury that is still bothering me at 9 months out, I'm suffering from fairly chronic angry hamstrings, sciatica- like electric shocks, and thoracic/rib pain. This book has modalities to address all of them. While helpful information and exercise
My review is for theRehab Science: Back and Spine: Protocols and Exercise Programs for Overcoming Pain and Healing from Injury (Paperback)I have chronic neck and back pain, so this seemed like a no-brainer purchase for me. I like how the book is organized and is easy to find the recommended stretches/exercises for your particular ailment.I do think some of the things it recommends would be better under the direction of your doctor or physical therapist to make sure that you don't learn them incorrectly and potentially cause more pain or damage.

I suffer from occasional back pain, mainly due to bad posture and standing for long periods of time. This book is a great tool for me to relieve some of this pain. I've tried a few of the exercises and they are easy to follow along. The language is easy to understand and there are clear photos to demonstrate the exercises.I like how the book explains the science behind the pain and it is like a physical therapy guide. Great for those who do not have health insurance or cannot afford to go to weekly physical therapy. It is, by no means, a replacement for physical therapy or seeing a doctor. But
