A window camera is a camera for people who cannot, or would rather not, mount anything outside: renters, apartment dwellers, anyone with a landlord, a brick facade or a strata committee. It sticks to the inside of the glass with adhesive or a magnet, plugs into an indoor outlet, and watches the street, the porch or the driveway through the window. Done right, it is as sharp in daylight as an outdoor camera and far harder to steal. We ranked the window and no-drill cameras in our cameras catalog by whether the lens is designed to see through glass, how it handles the night, resolution, Wi-Fi bands, storage and what owners report after a few months of looking out of a window.
We have not stuck every one of these to our own windows; the verdicts rest on the spec sheets and on the owner review history. Prices are not printed because they change daily; every button opens the live Amazon page. If you can mount outside, our outdoor security cameras guide covers better night performance, and our indoor security cameras guide covers cameras for the rooms themselves.
How we picked
- Built for glass. Six of the seven picks have an anti-glare lens design or an infrared-free sensor made for shooting through a window; the one general-purpose camera is marked as such.
- Color or ambient-light night vision. Infrared bounces off glass, so every pick relies on a sensitive sensor and the street light outside rather than IR illuminators.
- No drilling. Adhesive, hook-and-loop or magnetic mounts on every pick, with the cable running to an indoor outlet.
- Local storage. A microSD slot on every pick; one includes the card.
- Owner ratings of 3.8 stars or better, with the review count stated for each so you can weigh the newer models.
The picks
No Drill 2K Window Camera with Angled Mount, 5GHz&2.4GHz WiFi Indoor Camera for Home Security for Outdoor Monitoring, Anti-Glare Color Night Vision, 24/7 Recording, Free Human/Car/Pet Detection, Alexa

This is the window camera that gets the fundamentals right. The lens sits in an anti-glare housing that presses flat against the glass, the mount tilts it 15 degrees downward so a first-floor window looks at the path rather than the horizon, and there are no infrared LEDs to bounce off the pane; at night it uses a sensitive sensor and whatever light the street provides, which owners say works well under a porch light and poorly in a pitch-black garden. Video is 2K at 3MP, Wi-Fi covers 2.4GHz and 5GHz with Wi-Fi 6, person, vehicle and pet detection is free for life, and it records continuously to a microSD card with cloud as an option. About 3,900 owners rate it 4.2 stars, the best combination of rating and volume among cameras actually built for a window.
- Angled mount points the lens down at the path, not at the sky
- Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and free AI detection
- Continuous 24/7 recording to a card
- 4.2 stars from about 3,900 owners, the most-reviewed true window camera here
- Night image still depends on there being some street light
- Unbranded; support goes through the app
- Cable length limits which outlet you can use
WYZE Window Camera, WiFi Indoor HD Home Security Camera, Upgraded Color Night Vision, Anti-Glare, AI-Powered Motion Detection, Easy & Quick Setup, 24/7 Recording, Works w/Alexa & Google

The Wyze Window Camera is the one to buy if you want the window-camera idea from a company with a real app, firmware updates and a support line. Its selling point is the lens: an f/1.0 aperture over a back-illuminated sensor, which is brighter than anything else here and the reason Wyze claims color video from moonlight. A large hook-and-loop sticker blocks reflections from the room behind it, a 10-foot cable with clips reaches an outlet across the room, and it records 24/7 to a microSD card up to 512GB with no subscription. The compromises are 1080p resolution rather than the 2K of the cheaper rivals, and person-specific alerts that sit behind Wyze’s Cam Plus plan; basic motion and sound alerts are free. It launched recently, so about 900 owners have rated it, at 4.1 stars.
- Wyze app, firmware updates and a brand to call
- f/1.0 lens is the brightest on the page for dark streets
- 512GB card and continuous recording with no plan
- 10 ft cable with clips reaches a distant outlet
- 1080p rather than 2K
- Smart person detection needs the Cam Plus plan
- About 900 reviews so far, at 4.1 stars
INFIYA 2.4/5GHz WiFi No-Drill Window Cameras for Home Security, 2K3MP 2Pack

INFIYA’s pair is the sensible buy for a flat with a street-facing window and a yard-facing one. Each camera is a fixed 2K 3MP unit with a 105-degree lens and a sensor INFIYA calls Black-Light, which skips infrared entirely so nothing reflects off the pane and the night image stays in color as long as there is a street or porch light. The base is magnetic: you stick the plate to clean, dry glass and snap the camera on, which also makes it easy to pull off to wipe the window. AI human detection filters out passing cars and branches, storage is a microSD card up to 128GB for 24/7 or event recording, and Wi-Fi is dual band over a Type-C power cable. The angled mount that the top pick includes is sold separately here, which matters on a low window. About 800 owners rate the pair 4.1 stars.
- Two 2K cameras for front and back windows
- Infrared-free sensor avoids glass glare
- Magnetic mount snaps the camera on and off for cleaning
- Dual-band Wi-Fi and Type-C cable
- No angled mount in the box; the tilt mount is an extra
- 128GB card limit
- About 800 reviews, at 4.1 stars
vebiliki 2026 Upgraded 2K Window Camera with 32GB Memory Card, 5GHz & 2.4GHz WiFi Indoor Security Camera with Starlight Color Night Vision, AI Person & Motion Detection, Easy Install, 24/7 Recording

The vebiliki is the budget window camera that is ready the moment it arrives: a 32GB microSD card is already inside, so it records 24/7 out of the box with no card to buy and no plan to join. The lens is a 2K 3MP unit the maker says is tuned for glass, with starlight color night vision rather than infrared, and it joins 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi after a Bluetooth pairing that owners find painless. AI person detection filters the alerts, and the bracket set lets you use it on a window, a sill or a shelf. The included card is small, so continuous recording loops after a few days; buy a larger one if you want a week of history. About 750 owners rate it 4.1 stars, and it costs less than anything else here, which is why it ranks above the YI despite far fewer reviews.
- Memory card already in the camera
- Dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth pairing
- Converts from window mount to shelf camera
- Lowest price on the page
- 32GB card fills in a few days of 24/7 recording
- About 750 reviews, at 4.1 stars
- Generic brand and app
YI 2K Indoor Security Camera No-Drill Adhesive Mount for Wall & Window

The YI is on this page because it is the most-reviewed no-drill camera in the catalog by a wide margin, with about 25,400 ratings, and because its adhesive base genuinely sticks to glass. But it is a room camera first. Its night vision is 940nm infrared, and YI itself tells you to disable it when the camera is on a window, because the LEDs reflect off the pane and white out the image; at night through glass it sees only what the street light shows. The 2K daytime picture is good, the SD card records continuously, and the free seven-day cloud trial covers the AI person, vehicle and pet alerts, which afterwards need a plan. Rated 4.0 stars, it is the right buy if you want one cheap camera for a room that can also watch the drive by day, and the wrong buy for a window that matters at night.
- About 25,400 owners, more than every other pick combined
- Adhesive mount works on walls and glass
- 2K video at the lowest price tier
- Doubles as a normal room camera
- Infrared reflects off glass, so night view through a window is poor
- Smart detection needs a YI Cloud plan
- 4.0 stars; cloud-first design frustrates some owners
LongPlus 4K 8MP Window Cameras for Home Security, SD/Cloud Storage

Resolution matters more through a window than on a porch, because the camera is usually further from the action; a first-floor window watching a street is 30 feet from the kerb. The LongPlus is the only 4K pick here, and its 8MP sensor is the one most likely to read a number plate or a face at that distance. It has the anti-glare lens design the category needs, color night vision, dual-band Wi-Fi, AI person and vehicle alerts, and 24/7 recording to a microSD card or an encrypted US-hosted cloud. The mount is peel-and-stick and LongPlus suggests it for doors and aquarium glass as well. It is newer and dearer than the 2K cameras, with about 340 owners rating it 4.1 stars, and 4K recording eats card space, so budget for a 256GB card.
- 4K resolution reads plates and faces further down the street
- Anti-glare lens and color night vision
- Dual-band Wi-Fi and 24/7 recording
- Peel-and-stick mount also works on doors and aquariums
- About 340 reviews so far
- 4K files fill a card quickly
- Costs about twice the 2K picks
Luna Window Camera, 2K Dual-Band Wired Indoor Security Camera

Luna’s window camera has the most interesting software on the page: its AI watches the window and writes a short description of events, so an alert reads as a person approaching the door or a vehicle stopping, rather than a bare motion ping. The hardware is sound, with a 2K 3MP lens, color night vision, dual-band Wi-Fi, an angled mount in the box and a deliberate lack of status lights. It ranks last because its owner rating is the lowest here, 3.8 stars from about 490 reviews, and because the descriptive alerts and cloud history sit behind a subscription, so the clever part costs extra. Owners who pay are generally pleased; the one-star reviews are about setup and dropped connections. Worth it if the AI summaries appeal; otherwise the top pick does the basics better for less.
- Angled mount included
- AI alerts describe what happened in words
- Dual-band Wi-Fi and 2K video
- No blinking lights to draw attention
- 3.8 stars from about 490 owners, the lowest here
- Premium AI and cloud need a subscription
- Owners report app and connection quirks

Why infrared and glass do not mix
Ordinary cameras see at night by switching on infrared LEDs around the lens. Point one through a window and the glass reflects that infrared straight back into the sensor, which fills the frame with a white glow and hides everything outside. That is why the YI tells you to disable its night vision on a window, and why purpose-built window cameras have no infrared at all. Instead they use a large-aperture lens and a sensitive sensor, which is what the Wyze f/1.0 lens and the starlight sensors on the INFIYA, vebiliki and the top pick are, and they rely on ambient light: a porch light, a street lamp, a neighbour’s floodlight. The practical rule is simple. If the view outside your window has some light at night, a window camera will show it in color; if it is black, no window camera will show much, and an outdoor camera with its own spotlight is the answer.
Mounting, angle and reflections
The second enemy is the room behind the camera. A lit room reflects in the glass at night, which is why the Wyze uses an oversized sticker, the top pick a close-fitting anti-glare hood, and the INFIYA a flat magnetic plate: all of them seal the lens against the pane so no room light reaches it. Clean the glass with alcohol first, mount on a dry day, and wait a day before hanging the camera on an adhesive mount. Angle matters too: a camera flat against a ground-floor window looks at the horizon and sees a lot of sky, so the 15-degree tilt on the top pick and the Luna, or INFIYA’s optional inclined mount, keep the path and the porch in frame. Double-glazed and low-emissivity glass works, but tinted or textured glass does not.
Storage, alerts and plans
Every pick records to a microSD card, and the vebiliki ships with one. The Wyze offers the largest card support at 512GB with continuous recording and no plan, the top pick and the INFIYA also record 24/7 to a card, and the LongPlus and Luna add encrypted cloud. On detection, the top pick gives person, vehicle and pet alerts free for life, the INFIYA, vebiliki and LongPlus filter for people on the camera itself, while the Wyze, YI and Luna keep their smartest alerts behind a plan. If avoiding fees across the house is the goal, our security cameras without a subscription guide is the longer list.
Can a security camera see through a window at night?
Only if it has no infrared and there is some light outside. Infrared reflects off glass and whites out the picture. The purpose-built window cameras here use sensitive color sensors and the street or porch light instead.
Will a window camera work through double glazing?
Yes, as long as the glass is clear. Tinted, frosted or heavily coated glass reduces the image, and any gap between the lens and the pane lets room light reflect, so mount the camera flat against the glass.
Do window cameras record 24/7?
Six of the seven record continuously to a microSD card; the YI records continuously to a card but keeps its smart alerts in the cloud. The vebiliki includes a 32GB card, the others need one.
Are window cameras good for renters and apartments?
They are the main reason the category exists. Nothing is drilled or mounted outside, the camera plugs into an indoor outlet, and it comes off the glass when you move.
Can I hear or talk through a window camera?
Several have microphones and speakers, but the glass muffles both directions, so treat two-way talk as a bonus rather than a feature you can rely on.
