Other rice makers we've used in the past had the "nonstick" coating that not only began wearing off (in the food) but wasn't actually nonstick. This one is stainless steel, perfect. Easy to clean up and doesn't have a coating that eventually comes off and mixes with your food.Just get the stainless steel pot one.

We have had the ARC-914SBD (non-S meaning not stainless) for ~5 years. The nonstick coating is wearing out even though we only have ever used wood or the plastic spoon that comes with the rice cooker, which is why we replaced it with the stainless steel version. Outside of the coating, it was the perfect rice cooker. We've hosted parties and had enough rice when making the 8 cups cooked, or 4 cups uncooked, rice. Picture shows how much two uncooked cups of rice makes with 3 cups of water. Big enough for me. Works well. I like that it's stainless steel, replaced a non-stick one with toxic chemicals. Sticks a bit to the bottom a bit as expected but so did my non-stick one.

you would think a rice cooker is a simple appliance, but they have created a difficult-to-clean, time-consuming rice cooker. The lid; why make a removable plate only to find that the back has a non-removable seal, another plate is also not removable and they should at least have made the lid removable to wash it... nope! so trying to clean the lid behind the removable plate is a pain.I wish I knew this and would have not made this purchase. I miss my old rice cooker.UPDATE: I got so fedup with this rice cooker and not being able to properly clean it, that I trashed it.

I have been using aroma brand for more than 15 years it is very durable, quick and easy to use . Best brand ever.

Easy and simple to use! Little to no clean up other than cleaning the bowl & making sure the device is dry before closing for storage. Make sure to follow the instructions to avoid mushy rice.

I do love this cooker, I am sad the first one broke after 5 years of light use, but I did go back to them. And I upgraded to the stainless steel pan. Unfortunately the rice sticks, so it wasn't an upgrade, but a downgrade. Yes I eliminated the PFAs of the non-stick, but the rice is more uneven and browned on the edges. I reached out to Aroma, but they never responded. So I should have stayed with the cheapest model or gone another route.
