I spent way too much time researching and comparing printers before we bought this one. Around $600 is not exactly an impulse purchase for a printer, but I kept coming back to the Brother MFC-L8730CDW because it was the only one that didn’t seem to make us give something up. BEAST OF A PRINTER WITH THREE FATAL FLAWS.This is a review of the new printer version. This is a beast of a printer. It prints, copies, scans great and stays connected to the Wi-Fi network. I had been keeping an old HP all in one going far longer than it had any right to, and it finally gave up the ghost. In doing my research, it seems Brother is the only printer/scanner manufacturer that isn't actively trying to get you to buy their toner/ink, and deliver you a fully working product. I knew from years of dealing with ink jets I really wanted to go to laser. Yes, color laser is a premium but I'm betting that the toner lasts longer than the ink ever did. This is a great multifunction printer that so far works as advertised. It connects to my Wi-Fi and allows printing from remote locations or printing over the network. Like all laser printers, the laser itself is priced appropriately. Where they get you is on the price of toner. Toner is where the printer companies make their money, usually recommending that you only purchase their brand toner, excessively priced.

Prints well nice crisp lines and colors; which is what you would expect from a laser printer. However the controls to operate the printer are cumbersome and not intuitive. Some functions can only be accomplished by using the small 2"×2.5" screen. The querty keyboard is worse than a cell phone to use. The icons at the bottom of the screen are not illuminated so you need additional light to use those functions. There is no way to enter multiple addresses from a pc or cellphone they must be individually entered on the small printer screen. Not ideal for any office using the printer for mailing li

This is the biggest piece of junk I have ever used. Does not like to print on cardstock; the bypass tray will not work properly as it does not know if there is paper. I bought this for my wife to do homeschooling. Also, calling tech support, be prepared to be hung up on and wait 1+ hour. We still have not received a call back. We replaced our old HP and it was great but needed more parts than it was worth.

Still early days for us but this printer has done everything we had hope for. Our previous printer was an Epson and was okay for the first 6 months, after that the print quality declined (and it was never good for color images). Out of the box this Brothers printer has worked great and I like the functionality of the management software. Attached is a print from of the game I designed Rift Zone:Contact!

Starts off great. I just purchased this POS in January, it's already failed. Failed motor.
