This is actually the third Tapo outdoor camera I have in my home, and that probably says more than anything else about how much I like them.The camera has been great so far. The 2K QHD image quality is sharp, the pan/tilt functionality gives me excellent coverage, and the color night vision is a really nice feature when you need to identify what is happening after dark. I’ll be writing this on all the Tapo cameras I’ve recently purchased. (4x C110, 2x C210, 2x C520WS)These are flawless, amazing, and so far ahead of Wyze it’s not even funny. They are massively affordable, truly need no subscription, have fantastic features in their app, can record locally to an SD card; everything you would want. Coming from Wyze (see more below), I didn’t know that cameras were supposed to act like this. I assumed, at Wyze prices, that I was getting what I paid for. But when I finally had enough constant stress and spent the money to change to Tapo… my life has been changed.

This camera does what I wanted before I bought a Ring camera! The physical installation was fairly easy, the instructions are a bit cryptic in my opinion but I may be slower than the average guy. The electronic installation was very easy and intuitive. I have this mounted under the eve of my house on a corner by my garage door. Initially drawn to this camera for its high ratings. Reading on, I discovered a key feature missing from my other outdoor PTZ cams - the ability for wall/post mounting or ceiling mount. Simple feature perhaps, but one my other cameras could not accommodate. Depending on how you attach the mounting plate to the camera body, the mounting holes could be facing either the side or above. I bought eight of these cameras back in July 2024 so I’ve had them about that long. It’s been a little over a year and had a problem where my camera at the end of the driveway stopped working. The light wasn’t on when I went out there, the plug worked that it plugged into, but the camera itself wouldn’t work so I took a plug off one of the other cameras that are identical to this one to see if maybe it was just a faulty plug plugged it in and it worked so I left that plug-in and figured I’d buy another plug for the one that I replaced it with two days later Camera goes off-line. I added this camera to my existing security system which consisted of two other brands. This camera outperforms both of the other brands both in image quality and in its built-in AI detection. Follows "person movement" perfectly and doesn't get distracted by a tree blowing in the wind like one of mine does. Most importantly, to me, is that this camera works better with Frigate than any of my others. Flawless exposes both the main and sub streams.
