I just got this scale and I like it.I had a cheaper digital scale, and it was annoying in some ways that the Escali Alimento has fixed.The cheaper scale didn't have an AC adapter. You had to use batteries, and it's annoying when they run low in the middle of weighing, having to recharge them, etc. It shut off after 3 minutes of non-use, and that causes problems. Sometimes I would spend too long chopping veg's or have to do something else, and it would turn off and lose the weight. I had to touch the scale now and then to keep it from shutting off. I've had this for a while now (a couple years or so?) and it still works. It's very light weight, easy to use and to see the weight readings. I tend to be wordy in my letters (which can be several pages thick), so I wanted something that will tell me the weight at a glance so that I can put the correct postage on instead of having to make a trip to the post office during rush hour, and stand in a long line just to find out if my mail requires more than a first class postage stamp. My old Escali Alimento 136DK lasted over 14 years. I bought another Escali Alimento 136DK in June 2025. It's the same scale and works great. I use an AC power adapter and leave it plugged in. I need the scale to increment accurately to a tenth of an ounce or .1 ounce, which it does accurately. Easy to clean. Very happy with this scale. (AC Adapter not included with purchase). Scale measures in grams, ounces, lbs, lbs & ounces.

I have had Escali scales before in my professional kitchens, and LOVED them! This one, failed big time. I've only had it about 3 months or so and when it arrived the face was already starting to peel up. While I know I should have returned it (as I asked my staff to put it back in the box) it continued to get used. Now, the base has separated from the top of the scale. It's super cheaply made. While I will purchase an Escali again, this one is not great.

Like others have noted, this scale works well and is accurate for the price. The scale body is plastic painted silver but the weighing platform is metal. Cheap plastic battery door/hinge broke as soon as I inserted the battery.Scale measures in: lbs, oz, lbs & oz, or grams. I wish it did kilograms or milligrams as well.I also purchased the "Escali 9VAD 9-Volt AC Adapter" and the "50-Gram Chrome Scale Calibration Weight by American Weigh" to get the best accuracy. I couldn't be happier with this scale. It more expensive than the others I saw on Amazon., but, you get what you pay for! I need an ACCURATE scale. This scale has a removeble top for easy cleaning. There's also an option to buy power cord so you don't have to rely on batteries (although the scale will let you know if you batteries are weak). With most scales you don't have a power option.Some ingredients are hard to measure by cupfuls, such as chunky ingredients that take up space but leave gaps.
