I have heard of Henckels and they have a great reputation so I ordered their Pakka 13pc Knife Block Set.The set comes well protected in a cardboard box inside of a cardboard box inside of the shipping box! Each knife had an individual cardboard sleeve over the blade and a plastic bag covering the entire blade and handle. They definitely aren't messing around! I've been happy with this knife set because the blades arrived sharp and have handled everyday food prep without any issues. My current Henckels set was given to me in 1993, and it's still going strong. However, this new set is so much more modern looking. The knives are balanced very well and they are super sharp in typical Henckels great quality. I actually find the handles are more comfortable to use than my current set since these are rounded where mine are squared off. I am happy with the variety of knives. Ordered this to finally upgrade my mother's old knife set with a sharp, quality knife set that looks upgraded and modern. It has all the knives you typically need and they are sharp and well-balanced, but the knives and the block are extremely heavy - to the degree that she doesn't want to use them. Because the knives sit completely upright instead of slanted, she needs to pull the block out from under the cabinet when she wants to use them and she has a hard time even moving the block.
