I wasn't too sure if this machine was actually going to operate, since the box was somewhat damaged. Even the styrofoam was broken inside. Much to my delight, no dents or scratches were on the machine or any other parts. I plugged it in, threaded, and was sewing with no problem. It is easy to operate since this is my 6th machine. We have charity work in our quilt guild and I plan or make at least 24 baby quilts, I also volunteered to do quilts for fight against Alzheimer's. That said, I did one want to run my Designer SE to the ground and my Babylock Elizabeth, either. I also have a Babylock I

Wonderful machine

I have saved for a long while to get this great machine and it it totally awesome! If I could change/add anything I would add zig-zag stitch. But I love the open neck and the speeds. A happy camper here!

Janome 1600 P-QC

Not Joe but his wife....I have had two of these machines for 20 years as I have an online business making a custom product. Each machine served a different purpose. Last year, one of my machines wasn't working right, and the authorized repair center said it's reached it max life and time to get another machine. I purchased the Janome HD9 and then realized that the bobbin was not the same as my 1600. With over 200 bobbins, I didn't want to now have 400. So the machine was never used and could not be returned for a refund. I had seen a few of the 1600 on Amazon...and my husband ordered it for me

Great machine.

I've had troubles with less expensive machines since my old Viking gave up the ghost years ago. And by less expensive, I bought a $1,000 Janome with all kinds of fancy stitches (which I didn't ever use). This is sturdy and a workhorse. I use it for making quilts and have never had any trouble at all.The needle threader works but it a tad more awkward than others I've had but it has a thread cutter, press a button and both threads cut. It's worth the trade off to spend an extra second or two threading the needle.

Lovely Machine!! I love it!

I like this machine, BUT I only used it 3 times & the threader wouldn't line up, so I got to thread it by hand. Could you send me another threader? I knew it was tooo good to B true! It's always something faulty when you purchase one off these machines! I got in touch with Sew Vac Direct & sweet Jennifer Salinas has sent me a new Needle Threader! Jennifer, you're the Best! 👍😎

Neat machine

Such a neat machine for strictly quilting. Main reason I purchased is that I will get the Graces Frame and accompanying regulator for larger quilting. This to me is a lot more economical for a home quilter than a larger industrial type machine quilter

Never quilted before.

I have not had a chance to use. I will be taking a quilting class at the end of this month. Have never quilted but they tell me my machine is fine for straight stitch quilting. Anxious to learn machine and how to quilt.

A good sturdy practical machine

I have owned this machine for 3 or 4 years and I love it.I use it for general sewing, patchwork, quilting, mending, altering, making purse and totes. I bought it from a store and it was explained to me that this was the type of machine typically used in a dressmaking shop that did alterations. It feeds beautifully and forms a nice stitch with all weights of fabric, chiffon to denim and faux leather. The extra room in the bed makes it ideal for machine quilting.The presser feet are not snap-on but are easy enough to change.It has a knee lift and you can change the needle-up/ needle-down feature
