I cannot get over how amazing this machine is, it's like a dream! I had an old brother that was LOUD and vibrated like crazy no matter what I did! This Janome is quiet for a sewing machine and doesn't vibrate too bad either. THE biggest thing for me was the zigzag stitch, my old machine never would do the zigzag for a full row and it was so frustrating. But the zigzag on this is perfect! I have sewn a ton of things, gone through well over a 1,000 yards of thread and only had the thread break maybe a few times and that was more my fault. This is a great machine for my needs. I wanted to hem pants because I am short and often can't find petite size in the pants I want. The machine is not heavy, sews a great straight seam and is easy to thread. It comes with a plastic cover which will keep the dust out. The case is plastic but I don't expect to be dropping it and it keeps the machine light. The extra needles and bobbins is a nice gift.

Great investment
I love it! I'm a guy completely new to sewing. Thought it'd be a great investment to save the many of shorts and pants that wear out. It has paid for itself many times over. And, it wasn't nearly as hard to learn as I thought. I like that everything is manual instead of digital. Digital may be cheap and break. This has a nice industrial feel - solid build.
