Highly recommended purchase for whoever wants to do a raclette for 6 and not spend too much money. For an unknown reason raclette appliances are too expensive in the USA so do not hesitate to buy this one for once there is one which is affordable and works pretty well. I really enjoy this grill, we use it to have traditional Reclette dinner (which my young kids adore!) but also have used it to cook pancakes and grill hot dogs and hamburgers. The grill itself seemed a little flimsy at first, but we haven't had any issues using it. It heats up fairly quick, and the under grill works great to melt cheese. There are a few things to note, first, my grill came with cheap wooden spatulas to scrape the melted cheese with, the second time we used this grill and we were cleaning up, 3 of them broke. We had such a fun dinner with this tonight, 4 of us, which to me seemed better than trying to figure out how to fit 8 people around this thing. It heated up fast, great temperature control. The only thing that gave us a little scare when first turned on was a huge amount of smoke coming from the heating elements. I would describe this best as a beginners Raclette Grill. The top is NOT non-stick, so be sure to lube liberally before grilling. There are a number of hot spots and the cooking can be uneven. The outer ring is hottest and the inner portion of the grill is funtional only as a warm/holding spot. The elements underneath do not provide enough radiant heat to properly crust the cheese or other items, unless you hold them there for an extended period of time.The grill sits loose on top and is easily displaced from use during cooking.
