Tapo SolarCam C402 KIT 1080p Outdoor Wireless Security Camera(3-Pack)

The Tapo SolarCam C403 KIT has been a great addition to my home. Setup was quick, and the solar panel keeps the battery charged without any hassle. The video quality is clear, and the person detection works well, cutting down on unnecessary alerts.I also like that I can use local storage without paying for a subscription, while still having the option for cloud storage if I want it. The app is easy to use, and the camera connects smoothly with Alexa.Overall, this is a reliable, well-designed security camera that offers great value for the price. I highly recommend it!

Easy setup, consistent performance, useful app. Sound quality isn’t great, but that’s not my requirement. Also, tried mounting the solar on a tree with the camera under canopy in summer, and it’s still charged to 100%. Happy with the purchase. Last thing: I love that you don’t have to purchase a subscription. SD card in, videos saved on a loop, downloadable via WiFi. Too easy.

I purchased two of these cameras on the same date. After installing them both and monitoring their performance, I saw some clear discrepancies between them. In reviewing the camera settings, I noticed that one has a Hardware Version of 2.6 while the other has Version 1.26. I have observed that model 1.26 experiences *much* faster battery drain than model 2.6. For example, after two partly cloudy days in a row with no rain, the battery on 1.26 dropped to 80%. Amazing quality for the price! The set up is so easy it does require an app you can view and talk. It does everything without a monthly fee. The sound quality is excellent. The video quality is excellent. We bought both indoor and outdoor. It has the motion detection and we watch this video live checking on elderly relatives. They are super durable. I purchased 5 of these cameras originally, and another about a month in to owning them. I have had these May of 2025 so almost a 1 year review. Out of the 5, one would not connect, even though it was the closest to an access point. Hence the reason I purchased another one. This one connected and no issue up to about a month ago. Bought this to replace another outdoor camera. Since I already have several Tapo cameras, it was an easy decision to add this to my stable of other Tapo cameras using the Tapo Home app. Setup and installation was smooth and easy. I designed and 3D printed a magnet mount for the camera that allows me to attach it to the side of a metal workshop without drilling holes. Zero issues. Charges perfectly because I made sure the panel faced the sun fully. Not sure what everyone else is doing but I did it properly and these are perfect.
