I had (apparently) the previous model of this that I purchased about three years ago, and unfortunately, my wife forgot to remove the scale from on top of our toaster oven when she used it one morning, and the entire bottom melted and warped, however, it actually worked perfectly fine, until the battery finally died last week. Update- I was sent a replacement. It works great. The first one had some weird problems (as seen in original review(, but the company sent me one and I had it in the mail in less than 3 days (without prime). No charge for shipping or return. Anyways, it's a great scale, and that's why I wanted to exchange the faulty one with the same one. This is the second time I've purchased this exact scale. The first one last nearly 8 years before finally dying. I researched around for a different one, but settled on this again as it's simple to use, easy to clean, inexpensive, and accurate. It also looks nice in the kitchen. This is a decent kitchen scale that is easy to use, pretty accurate, able to disassembled for cleaning, and overall a good value.... But why power it with a coin battery? There's plenty of room for a pair of AA or AAA batteries in the base. I use the scale twice a day to portion food for pets and I'm putting a coin battery in it about once a month. I don't want to buy coin batteries or keep them on hand. I don't want to remove the little screw in the base to change the coin battery. After going through 3-4 food scales due to water damage from cleaning them with a damp paper towel - I bought one of these and it lasted by far the longest. The others were the flat kind that were thin with only one level - unlike this one where the screen is detached from the measuring surface. I purchased this specifically for weighing my mail pieces (local usps front line teller honesty is problematic, so, I decided to act accordingly, and have proof of each mail piece's real weight). So far, I find it is easy to use, it seems to be accurate although I have no real way to verify this. The USPS line teller is no longer problematic. I write the weight on each piece, as well as photograph the piece WHILE ON THE SCALE, as back up. (can you believe I have to do this????) Anyway, the scale is doing its job, as far as I know (re accuracy).

I have been using this scale almost daily for years. Originally bought it to help with portion control for weigh loss. Now it turns out that weighing recipe ingredients, especially for bread and other baking gives more consistent results and it's great for that too. It is easy to clean and has held up really well. I bought this one for my mom for Christmas. My sister, coincidentally also picked this scale and loves it. We are all pretty serious cooks. I have the same model at home, only 10 years old. Still works fine. Bought a new one, came in nice packaging in a timely fashion, but didn't work. Changed the battery, but still didn't work. Kind of bummed out. Second return this week after never having any issues. Quality control is suffering everywhere!
