Omada ER707-M2, Multi-Gigabit VPN Route

I'm a "prosumer," so this router might not be for the average person who wants an "easy" plug-and-play setup. But it's not complicated to set up if you know how to get to the web interface and know the difference between a WAN and LAN port.I purchased this router for its multi-gigabit capability, and it does not disappoint. Recently Comcast/Xfinity upgraded us to 1,200Mbps service, but the router and modem we had would only allow us to hit around 700Mbps. Takes a bit to get configured, but is load balancing fairly well. I have Starlink and Xfinity connected. Got Starlink as a back up for when the power goes out. With this, I was able to drop the bandwidth I was buying from Xfinity and load balance to the 200mbps from Starlink. It does NOT automatically move the bandwidth requests around, but I am able to route all the IOT and phones to Starlink and leave the TVs and computers on Xfinity. If either goes down, everything switches to the other one.

First, I want it known that Amazon sent me a used product, not the new - never used that I thought I ordered. I know that it was used, because it was unusable because it was password protected and the default starting login did not work. I had to get TP-Link business product support, who advised me to reset the box. After I did that, I was able to create my own account and configure this the way I wanted. The ports are completely programmable to be WAN or LAN ports and these came came to me in some peculiar and unknown state. Updated 7/25/26: TP-Link tech support was very responsive to emails

It had some interop issues with a Linux server for IPSec. Those _may_ be improved in the latest firmware. I replaced IPSec with Wireguard, which it also supports, and it is working fine. It doesn't allow VPN connections like IPSec to be specified between IPv6 endpoints, which is an annoying limitation.

Normally we use the TP Link ER-7206. Thought we would try this version. It is impossible to configure and setup for a client before you arrive on site. It require an Internet Connect and you have to test it before you can procede. Most of your clients have STATIC IP from their Internet provider. SO, you have to plug it in to some type of network with DHCP to get past it. And it has to be on a subnet that is not the same as the 192.168.0.0 subnet which it defaults for. WE are going back to the ER-7206 This is a SAD product for TP-LINK. AVOID.
